Dutch band The Deaf is no stranger in the club and festival scene. Often they are playing at local events and when they announced the release of their second album we were curious to hear that. The album is self titled and is out now.
Earlier I wrote on the hate-love relationship with the band but the shows of the band is always entertaining to see so it is only fair we take this album for some listening as well. Oldschool is newschool, it’s a fact that many bands embraced already but The Deaf makes that sound we know from the past with a nowadays approach that is a little more odd than others do. Is it a bit more dynamic perhaps that creates a little extra on this release. Good, when thinking of the energetic live shows you may have to swallow a bit for the tempo to be out of it.
You could argue that it breaks it up a bit, but against that you could say that the songs are given more space. Less is more in a song done this way which makes them more catchy and perhaps commercial.
The Deaf is band that radiates they have strong ideas on the sound they want and it does not really matter what one thinks of it as they are obviously very passionated about it. This album is worth to give a try for your nostalgia to be back in business.
