The German quartet Deaf Lizard founded in 2012. This November the band dropped the second LP The Last Odyssey.
Roots of all the good stories laid in the garage. As the story behind The Last Odyssey. Unpacking the record with “Nuclear”, we hear only instrumental promising composition. Then tempo changed several times in minute, that how “The Devil’s Show” started. Additionally, there is epic combo of classy rock chords and interruption of vocal part. The most punk and proto-rock track “City of Life” mixed itchy vocals with raw and clear chords. “Independent Terror” started as hard rock tune, then opened the potential of doom and groove passages. The nostalgic cosmic vibes stitched “Ape’s Odyssey” in eight minutes. The lullabying and looped guitar solo didn’t make the track never-ending, because of the solid stoner riffs appearance in the middle of song and crying guitar in the end. Almost meditative “Veil” finalized the record. It was short but thoughtful journey.
This kind of stoner opuses could be included to the library of genre’s good examples. The rhythmic and quiet shift of soft chords is the ideal constant of the record. All the topics written in an unstable and fluid manner. In general, there is half an hour of dramatic and steady voltage.
