Veuve – Pole

Releasedate: 15-11-2024
Label: Go Down Records

Veuve is a heavy psych/stoner rock power trio formed in Pordenone, Italy in 2013. Over the years, Veuve has embraced prog-rock, psychedelic soundscapes, and post-rock influences through their music. “Pole” is their third full-length album, released via Go Down Records. Let’s dig deep.

“Pole” delivers us six songs and brings the classic heavy psych/stoner sound with many influences here and there, ranging from blues to post-rock. In its whole, “Pole” feels like a musical kaleidoscope that flows with fuzzy tunes and a dynamic rhythm. I personally love albums that just flow from the beginning to the end and “Pole” is just one of these albums. It feels like the band has recorded the album in one go. Production is top notch and nothing feels underdone or exaggerated. Fans of this genre might recognize some influences from the legendary acts such as Kyuss and All Them Witches.

My personal highlight in “Pole” is The Sudden Light, which is also the longest song. The song starts out spiritual and gets dynamic, groovy and surprises you with each tune! There is also a twist about this song: Inner Desert and The Sudden Light were originally a 25-minute track. The band decided to split this one song into two, painting a wide range of instrumental soundspaces.

“Pole” is one of the best heavy psych/stoner records I have listened to in a while. It is rare that I get to experience such a colorful range of emotion in this music and Veuve manages to captivate us with their progressive and dynamic sound. Definitely a must-have for all the fans of this genre. Get it, enjoy the music and get ready to space out!
