Location:
013, Tilburg (Netherlands)

Infected Rain is on tour and brings a variety of bands along with them. The first night took place in Tilburg (The Netherlands).

Skin on Flesh

Now, when we say variety we mean it. Skin on Flesh was opening the evening and they are rather different from the headliner. The band is based in Berlin and plays Punk Rock. With the right amount of energy the band starts their set and it does not take them long to capture the attention. Often when we see Punk Rock bands it is all about the chaos and show, but with Skin on Flesh we get to experience a well thought act, where the musicianship raises above that and with a good vocalist on board they surely entertained us well here tonight.

Miruthan

Tempelores readers already had an introduction to the Australian Miruthan by the interview on our youtube channel, but for many visitors of 013 it was the first encounter with the masked formation. Watching a Melodic Black/Death sound come alive here was a 360 degrees switch from the punk we heard before, but certainly the band seems to win with the entertainment part. The may not be the first band you would expect to join Infected Rain so to say. The band released their EP “Cult of the Dead” last year and that was what we were presented here today. For full effect the band should probably have a bit larger stage for they seemed somewhat limited in their way of performing and reaching out to the fans but in the end they made an impression anyway.

Elyose

Elyose is a French Symphonic Metal formation that has a bit of a reputation here as it seems. Surrounded by other press I was warned to make sure to have my good earplugs in (spoiler: I always do, so should you. Your hearing is too precious to gamble with)
A statement that was not exactly promising. And I kind of get where it is coming from, the lady up front is aiming high with her notes but does not always get there. A pity and seems like if she takes a less challenging approach to her vocals she would be much more impressive for the parts where she does succeed you can hear she has a nice, warm tone. Especially as she does have a good instrumental backing around here, one see the potential here. The audience was not too responsive to this formation either so perhaps they need to look at how to utilize their best aspects a bit more and then they will find a more responsive audience.

Semblant

Semblant was up next and their Symphonic Metal seem to be a a tad bit different from the predecessor. Personally I was most impressed by their guitarist, who does not seem to demand a lot of spotlight but certainly has a substantial part in their sound. Sometime it feels a bit progressive and that brings in something that stands out. The band is based in Brazil and their latest release dates back to 2022. Vocalwise the duo upfront is doing quite well. A good combination of the two where Sérgio is often surprising us most. A good show that seem to impress many.

Infected Rain

Infected Rain is getting on and it is clear that people were there specifically for them. It did not take long before some movement was going on in the audience, something that was lacking before this evening. The whole band is rather active and often close to their audience, some humbled words between the songs are often shared. The start with “The Realm of Chaos” was a smart move as the song is familiar to the fans clearly. But as their latest has been out for almost a year now this seems to be the case for the whole set. (see our interview about that release here). A combination of a soothening voice that turns into vehement violent outbursts is a formula that the band is quite successful with, but never during the set you feel like you are watching something on repeat. A charismatic frontlady certainly helps as well. If Lena towards the end of the set asks people to sit down, they manage to get the entire place along, all the way to the back. Something that does not work with each band that asks this.

Altogether we can say that the band had a good start of their tour here tonight. Sure, the balconies remained closed at 013, but the rest of the place was filled well and with their wild energy they entertained everyone!
