The serial musician Devin Townsend came with the 28th project after the name of PowerNerd. According to the author, “powernerd’ described the person, which does things “with sensitivity that rooted in strength”. So find out what it exactly means.
This record packed with 11 tracks in the entire emotional pallet. The mind-blowing opener “PowerNerd” started with single “beep” and continued as speedy metal track. “Knuckledragger” put the scene in 8-bit universe at the first sight, but you understand how to rock after all. If only I could, I rearranged tracks and let “Gratitude” be the last. This heart-teasing tune is powerful blockbuster that no need to continue. The cut on edge. Therefore pre-goodbye tune, uhm, “Goodbye” is the solid ballad as well. “Ruby Quaker” sounds like post scriptum. Absolutely different with everything you heard in previous minutes. Being involved in western with rhythmic refrain “Coffee, coffee I love the coffee//Morning brew is perfect in every way” that turned in origin hard and heavy plus finished with wide chorus and scream afterword.
I have no idea how such different tracks combined in one record with saloon “I like coffee” and down pouring refrain: “You see me on the top of world”. For me it was challenging review, because I really like tracks in particular but they won’t fixed in whole picture. Returning to the early connotations, I highly recommend “PowerNerd” but listening must be the gentle process.
