Location: Klokgebouw Eindhoven, the Netherlands
Tempelores visited this years Helldorado Festival in Eindhoven. A festival with a lot of rock and roll. The festival takes place in Klokgebouw which is not your typical music venue but also not a stranger to it.
There are three stages where one was the more local and up and coming stage and two bigger stages.
Tempelores asked our readers to vote what bands we must photograph at the beginning of the day and you told us we had to go see Tankzilla and not to forget John Coffey. So that is exactly what we did. We started the day with Cobra the Impaler which we have seen many more times. Today the sound was very good, it sounded like it all had a bit more grit. After their show we got to see Tankzilla which has the front man from Peter from Peter Pan Speedrock and drummer Marcin from Wolfskop and they played some raw rock n roll they way it should be. We got overwhelmed by the Swedish force that is The Baboon Show. Really go see that band. What an energy coming from that stage. Luckily we could catch our breath when we saw Pallbearer. Such beautiful doomy soundscapes delivered by the American Pallbearer. Getting us ready to be blown away by the Dutch Dool. Who created such an atmospheric vortex where everyone was pulled in. No other way to describe that.
Luckily a dose of English grindcore could wake us up. It was time for the mighty Napalm Death to show us they still got it. Although it didn’t leave such an impression as in the old days. John Coffey was more than ready to present the audience with their blend of alternative hardcore punk and the latter was clear when they addressed some political views, which to me kinda belongs to a show like this though they raged over that stage. It was then time for the Swedish Graveyard to take us on a more bluesy and psychedelic adventure. It got us enjoying their set and totally reinvigorated for a more ‘recht voor je raap’ rock from Peter Pan Speedrock. For whom Helldorado is more or less their home. They delivered like you expect them to. We catched a tiny bit from Hellbutcher serving us some black speed metal. Fully dressed to represent some black metal madness. Headlining the second stage that day was the American Baroness that played a mix of stoner, sludge and 70s hardrock. One of that bands that can entertain and their stoner vibes just get you to nod your head. But this came to and end when it was time for Frank Carter to say goodbye to us. His last performance with the Rattlesnakes in our country. Gosh they delivered quite the show. Singing from the crowd like a where is Waldo but enjoying himself so much, rousing up the audience for more jumping and circle pits while he sings his songs. Awesome end of this day. We loved this edition of Helldorado and are looking forward to next year!
