The German formation Red Raven is a relatively young band. Founded in 2011 they started working on a debut album, which took them three years to release. It is now ready to be presented to the world, “Chapter One: The Principles” is out now.
The band plays Metal according their facebook page. The infosheet speaks of Hard Rock and what it is in reality is probably somewhere in between. Reading their own pages the band seem to be around much longer than we are told and perhaps we should not take the rest of the info sheet too serious either then.
What we can expect of this album is a beginning, but a beginning of what. Do they have a trilogy planned, or perhaps more? Or are they just leaving their options open for future. Hard to say.
For now we are presented a bunch of songs that are well thought. Strong melodies, sometimes catchy and sometimes quite powerful.
A ballad is included, tick it of the list and soon you come to the conclusion that the album is quite complete. Yes, the band has presented themselves well. Perhaps a little remark to make is that they could work on expressing their own identity a bit more but this very first chapter is surely a fine one.
