The band Maxxwell has been releasing two albums and an EP before the band had an interesting collaboration with an ice hockey team. The song “Slapshot” was written as the official stadium hymn and have been released as an EP in 2012, which was basically the last we heard of the band. Now the band returns with a brand new release called “Tabula Rasa”.
Ok, it took them a while to come with new material but that makes sense knowing that theyhad to find a new leadsinger. Having mr. Gilberto Meléndez on board may have been an excellent addition to the band as he has a great range to present to the guys. The band has a whole lot of options with him and they surely haven’t finished experimenting on that, but with Tabula Rasa we get a little sneak preview of what we can expect. Whether they present an up-tempo track or a more slow song the band seem to be able to find a good balance with it which makes the album a diverse one, showing all the band can do. Yet you can hear there is probably much more treasures to find as the guys seem to be searching for what direction they are going to take it.
“Tabula Rasa” is an exciting release that showcases this band as they are now, but make you want to hear more. So hopefully the band is ready to bring out more to the world in reasonable time.
