The Swedish Amaranthe have easily set themselves some fame. Their first two albums scored well and their fanbase has grown substantially. This year the band comes with a third full length album called “Massive Addictive” which is out now.
Pop Metal, Amaranthe owns it at the moment and with the release of this new album they live up to any expectations. The ultra-catchiness is in there, check. Melodic passages that cannot do anything else than make you happy, check. Easy to take lyrics, check. It has all it has to have. In that way, I bet I could even convince my grandparents that Metal is fun with an Amaranthe album in my hands.
Then looking at the songs you may find some songs have a bit more of a catch than then the other. It does not really seem hard to guess that “Drop Dead Cynical” is the first single the band releases and if they plan to have more singles out it, you may easily pick them out. A song like “Drop Dead Cynical” is a bit apart from the others. In power, in catchiness. And maybe “Unreal” or “Skyline” could match up with that, but there are also songs that speak to you less. In a way a bit fillers, but one needs that too to make the album an unity and that for certain it is.
No doubt, “Massive Addictive” is going to score. The name itself tells you enough and you simply have to expect what you can expect from Amaranthe.
