Fatal Embrace is a Melodic Death/Black formation from Sweden. The band formed in the early 90’s and they released one full length album before they became inactive.
The Swedes seem to be on a quest to re-ignite their material and have re-recorded an album that was previously unreleased. The vault is opened and so we get to enjoy “Hail Down Deep” in 2025, a few decades after it was originally written.
Starting the album it seems like the band felt enough time has gone to waste and throws you right into a vehement sound so you know right away what you are up to. With a track like “Darkness Set and Done” the band is allowing you some time to soak it all in.
The guys lay a lot of variation in their songs, whether it is as a song as a whole but also within. Some intensity changes, a tempo picking up or slowing down, not just a train that keep on going. Creates a dynamic feel to the album. Look for example at the track “Of Unholy Measure” which seem to have all in it. The slower parts, the intensity and a heavy feel.
Altogether Fatal Embrace chose wisely to release this album to the world. It has its place here and is one that pleases many. Would be a waste to have it laying around much longer.
