Liquid Grey is the personal band of Mr. Grey, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter from Kristiansand, Norway. In 2011 he came with his debut release “Grey Matter” via Echozone. Anno 2014 he returns with a new album called “Arsenic Dreams”.
The previous release of Robert Steen-Antonsen, the name behind this project, fell quite well. We hoped for a bit more variation in the track list and with this new release you can certainly find that coming to reality. The album contains a collection of great gothic songs in vain of bands like Sisters of Mercy and Lucyfire/Tiamat. Halfway the track list you stumble over the gorgeous track “Poison Days” with its dreamy moments and the fact that it builds stronger and stronger and contains a great exhibition of guitar skills that make you show exactly why this album is one to keep your eyes on.
Danceable dark tracks with a good structure and a decent dose of catchiness makes that you stick with the whole album. This time there is enough variation in the tracks and it is safe to say that “Arsenic Dreams” shows a progression.
It closes with three bonus tracks taken from an earlier released EP called “Love Under Will” which highlight that statement as they are a bit more raw than the new material. Clearly some good thought and time has been going into this release and it pays off, a great gothic album!
