Tombs is a Post Metal formation from USA. After their formation in 2007 the band released two albums and a bunch of small releases. Anno 2014 they are up for their third full length album. “Savage Gold” is out now.
Described as Post Metal you may not always cover the load completely when it comes to the Experimental sound of Tombs. There is plenty to finds in their music, influences from Black, some Doom, yes those Post elements and whatever more, so instead of genrefucking you could leave that open. What is to expect is a heavy and thick sound. It has that intensity and yet a melodic side that is captivating you. Headphones on and let yourself get drawn into misanthropy. The band goes easily without vocals, leaving those only for the essential moments to shape a song a bit further, but the strength of the band is found in that instrumental combination, a solid team that is presented as well balanced quartet. Even though, the band does not have the most accessible music, it easy to get sucked in because it flows rather easily.
“Savage Gold” is an excellent release that brings you a piece of Metal with quality and will keep you listening for quite a while.
