Bane is a hardcore punk band that began as a side project between Aaron Dalbec (then of Converge) and Damon Bellardo. Dalbec approached Matt Firestone to sing and they played under the moniker of Gateway for a few shows, before Firestone parted ways to focus on other projects.
Dalbec then approached Aaron Bedard (who had previously sung for the Worcester, Massachusetts hardcore band Backbone) about singing for Bane. They went into the studio in December 1995 with a few friends and released a five-song demo. Since then the have released four studio albums with “Don’t Wait Up” being the latest. This is their last album ever so a definite must check out. “Don’t Wait Up” contains ten songs. The music is powerful and strong. The vocals are energizing because they are somewhere between being shouted and sung, along with backing vocals from the band that almost sounds like a backup in a battle. The riffs are just as thriving and are pushing you forward.”Don’t Wait Up” is filled with great punk music. So don’t miss out on the last live dates Bane are playing at their farewell tour. And after that keep “Don’t Wait Up” rotating in your CD players.
