The formation The Graviators has been formed in 2009. The Swedish guys make Stoner/Doom and released their third full length album called “Motherload” this year.
One of the inspirational seeds for the lyrics of this band can be found in witchcraft. I must say that the way they embraced that within their thick sound is remarkable. The first song “Leif’s Last Breath – Dance of the Valkyrie” is a good entry into what they bring, a full sound that captures you. Here and there it lightens up a bit but the guys always return to that feeling from the first tracks. A little experimenting suits the guys and maybe even brings some surprising moments within the album. Where others reign on and on with the same sound the guys bring some refreshment into it, which makes the whole interesting to listen even a couple times in a row because the various elements come forward in a different way each time a songs passes by. A lot to discover so to say.
“Motherload” is a fine release from these Swedes, they obviously try to bring some elaboration into it and that suits them. It gives them their own face and a reason to keep listening to this album.
