Fäulnis – Snuff/Hiroshima

Releasedate: 28-02-2014; Label: Cold Dimensions
By: Sabine van Gameren

Fäulnis is a German Black Metal formation. The band has been active since 2003 andis anno 2014 ready for the release of their third full length album. “Snuff/Hiroshima” is out now.

The band self has a quite wide description of their sound. ‘Black Doom Punk Rock’it is and that may give you an indication of the weird mix that comes out of it. The lyrics, screeched in German, are giving the whole a sharp, mean edge. If you don’t feel the shivers going down your body you must not have listened carefully. Whether those occur because of how much you like the music or because you can simply feel that icy cold atmosphere percolate through your bones is up for debate. It can’t be said that the band sticks with all what’s familiar, you can hear some experimenting has taken place and the results are brining you some unique moments within the blend of styles the guys are approaching. The only thing to question is how much will it appeal to each of the fans of the genres. It ask an open mind for something different and one should not be afraid to expect something new. A typical Black Metal listener may have to frown upon some of the elements these guys throw in, so a typical audience that will appreciate an album like “Snuff/Hiroshima” is one that does not care to cross some borders here and there.
