Releasedate: 28-03-2014; Label: Cyclone Empire
By: Sabine van Gameren
Winter of Sin is a band from the north of The Netherlands. The guys have been active since 1998 and released a couple of albums. Number four sees light anno 2014: “Violence Reigns Supreme” is out now.
Where the guys previously included some of their own language into the album, they now prefer to stick with English as it seems. The Death/Black they make is given an international coating and perhaps it will bring them further across the borders. Also new are the drummer and vocalist in the band, which means the band seem to have given themselves a whole new sound.
Both of the newbies have been known from settled names like God Dethroned for example. Quite interesting to see what effect it has in this release. A good heavy base is there and with a little focus back towards the original members of the band you get presented with a good pack of riffs that suit perfectly within the whole that comes together now.
As an album “Violence Reigns Supreme” has everything the title tells you it is. No mercy they have with any listener that needs a moment to breathe, a rage onto the end and it has its charm in the way these guys bring it. An album that shows what they are up for, giving enough identity free and will give you a good company driving towards the festivals this summer!
