Lurk is a Finnish Death/Doom formation based in the city of Tampere. The band formed in 2008 to come with first full length in 2012. Anno 2014 the band returns with a new full length called “Kaldera” which is out now.
Death/Doom yes, but don’t forget to mention there are some sludgy elements in there too. Those coming forward big time in the vocals but is not limited to that area. Heavy sounds, the ongoing feel of misery, these guys have no trouble to radiate their thoughts of sound and make that come out very obvious. A little experimenting here and there adds a little uniqueness into it and that has its charm as the band has no shame of showing the world how their own face looks like instead of depending on what people may have known before. The album closes with the title track “Kaldera” which with its over nine minutes length is summarizing the whole feeling of the album in one track, The diversity comes by and the qualities of each bandmembers are coming forward very well.
“Kaldera” is an album that is well thought and carries a good balance within. The band sets down a strong release with their own characteristics upon it which makes that it is standing out just a little more than others. Simply well done!
