Suzen’s Garden – 12 Colors

Releasedate: 15-11-2013; Label: Sonic Revolution
By: Sabine van Gameren

German band Suzen’s Garden presents their debut album “12 Colors”. A Pop Rock production.

Great, Suzen’s Garden is on our desk and it says PopRock. Well, drop the Rock part from it, because they are not really coming to that point at all. It sticks with sugarly sweet songs you would feed to your little children. Except that here and there some moaning comes in that may not be suitable for them. Quoting from their own info sheet ‘Melodious guitar riffs and danceable grooves’. OUCH! That part have not really come alive. Some simplistic guitar parts and a sound that you would nod your head to but not much more than that. The vocals sound solid, which we could mention as one of the more positive points on the release, but never give something really special.

No, the album “12 Colors” is not really living up to any of the expectations they try force on you. And that may be their largest problem. With some years, they may grow into something. Especially when they take it a bit more in a Roxette way, which would suit the vocals very well. But they have to grow some more. And perhaps realize that pretending to be more rock than you are is only disappointing for those who listen it. Wrong audience to target on!
