Krankheit is a German trio that formed in 2011. Previously they released an EP and the songs of that EP are also to be found in the debut full length of the band. “Sanatorium” is out now.
For whatever reason it may be the songs of the EP have been republished and you cannot hold the thought of them being out of inspiration or material. Never a good way to start with. Sure the songs have been redone, but still not really a plus. About creativity you can twist as you can of course also question how creative the use of “Für Elise” for example is anyway. The sound that the Germans make is not easy to describe. A melting pot of whatever genre sounds dark and heavy combined with some German spitting vocals. The guys obviously aim for terror and they achieved that very well. They are not creating a smoothly going sound but chose a road of obstacles for the listener. How much those are appreciated is to wonder. Krankheit, the name is probably the best description of their sound and this release. No structure, no logic and the use of expectable sounds and choices are often breaking it up a bit. Maybe too much Krankheit for the majority of the people.
