Pilomotor is a band from Switzerland making Rock Music. The band took a two year break but now return with a brand new release which is their third full length album. “Imaqginary Friend” is out now.
It all starts with a melancholic, ambient sound but sound transforms into a catchy collection of pop rock songs. In a song like “Surrender” you get introduced to the band, having a mellow vocalist bringing the right dose of drama into his words without overdoing it. By the time the song is over, you have it stuck in your head and then there are still twelve more tracks for you. The tempo steps back a bit , bringing the songs a bit more calmer, but not losing any of the catchiness. A great role in this all is there for the guitars. Not bring a necessarily a brand new sound, but a stable factor that drives the song hand in hand with the vocals.
Listening to Pilomotor you could imagine them easily in the charts, but with the remark that various tracks there are more simplified than what these guys bring, because even if they are not always the most innovative, they never leave you with a simplistic sound. They always fill up the song with whatever is needed to make it a vibrant and living track.
“Imaginary Friend” is an album you cannot really have much against. It’s either your taste or it is not but the band has delivered a great collection of Pop Rock songs with this release.
