The Sandsacks – Far Away

Releasedate: 30-03-2012; Label:Totentanz Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Sandsacks are a band from Germany, making folk rock music. The band is currently releasing their third full length album called: “Far Away”.

The Sandsacks are a group that combine the folk side with a confidential sound of simply rock. In the past two years they added two musicians to their formation, which surely have a deal in that. To give an idea of what to expect, the craziness a la the Dutch Scotch, cheeky songs here and there. Sometimes going a bit more into a serious way, but above all they keep that feel-good touch. Some fine guitar riffs are blending with instruments like mandolin or bagpipes, but it comes with a punch of rock which gives it more balls. Tracks as “Life Ain’t Nice” have a humoristic touch where others focus more on the music itself, the band brings some variation which is needed. For a folk fan this is an album you can blindly buy, the guys know what they are doing and have created an album that works quite well. It does get a bit Rock, but never leave behind their roots. A nice album that will entertain you this summer on a terrace with a cool glass of beer in front of you.
