The Treatment – Generation Me

[schema type=”review” name=”The Treatment – Generation Me” description=”Label: Frontiers Music Srl” author=”Basak Günel” pubdate=”18-03-2016″ ]

The Treatment is an English hard rock band. Formed in 2008, the band has been delivering us some fine rock’n’roll! Although they are relatively young, they have already toured with some big names like Alice Cooper, Steel Panther, W.A.S.P., KISS and Mötley Crüe.. So for those of you who have never heard the band, I think that you are maybe partly convinced at this point! 😀 But what’s even better is that the band’s latest record “Generation Me” has been released last month!

I remember seeing The Treatment as a support act for Steel Panther back in 2012 in Cologne. Their “heavy metal/hard rock” attitude as well as the tribute to the 80s they paid impressed me! So as soon as I got the chance to review the record, I was a bit curious about how it sounds this time!

In today’s industry where those 80s rock’n’roll/heavy metal bands either slowly become inactive or ‘retire’, The Treatment brings some fresh air to the scene for sure! With the young energy, which can be felt in the songs, the album will definitely entertain the fans of the genre. The album’s sound is catchy overall and it will make you say “Spring has finally come!” There is an overall positive vibe; no ballads and no emotional stuff but just pure rock’n’roll!

Musically, it’s great to hear that the band does a great job at mixing the tunes from 80s with their own sound/character. Surely, one can say that the melodies are somehow familiar but in this genre I don’t actually expect a versatility or something progressive. I know that the fans of heavy metal/rock’n’roll expect that spark in the riffs and the high-pitched vocals and “Generation Me” will satisfy the needs! At this point, vocals need to be praised; the vocalist Mitchel can go quite high, which is really impressive. The listener will definitely feel the drive and the passion in his vocals; they are not doing it for fame or fortune but from the heart and that’s how it should be!

The Treatment is back! Personally, it is really refreshing to hear a record like this; pure young and wild rock’n’roll! My personal favorites are “Backseat Heartbeat”, which has a relatively slower tempo than the other songs and “The Devil”. Definitely recommended to the lovers of the genre!
