Rock and Roll formation Chron Goblin comes from Calgary. In 2013 their debut saw light and now they return with a brand new release called “Backwater”.
So the band has its basics in the classic Rock and Roll as they tell us, but soon you find a hint to more modern styles as well. A blend of these, weaved into a sound that can be hypnotic, a stoner edge that immediately reminded me to Megasus. The band is thriving on diversity. They are never keeping you with the same too much, excitement is the key and they know how to use that. The songs self are quite constant in the tracklist. No one jumps out more than the other and they form a strong list together. The album is therefore one you would like to listen as a whole. Whether it is the opener “Fuller” or a song like “Give Way” the guys are giving you a strong mix of passion and skills.
It may be that the whole concept is not like something you never heard before, but the execution of it is done well. The whole gets a bit of a modern twist and make “Backwater” an album that’s pleasant to listen to.
Tracklist: 01. Fuller 02. Seattle 03. Give Way 04. Backwater 05. The Wailing Sound 06. End Time 07. Hard Living 08. The Return |
