Kyrbgrinder is a Metal band from UK. The trio holds Threshold drummer Johanne James in the line-up and is currently up for the release of their third album. “Chronicles of a Dark Machine” is out now.
Listening to this album for a couple of times brought me constantly back to the same thought. Years ago I received an album of iO, a project of some Guano Apes bandmembers and a singer that has a background in soul music. The album was Rock music though, but something in the way the lyrics were made made you very much aware of that different mind set, the way of thinking. Full rock, but different. That exact feeling came up when listening to this release by Kyrbgrinder. Yes, of course we know Johanne James from his work with Threshold also, but perhaps there is a different liking in his musical taste as well.
In any way, they produced an album that shows us something that sounds so easy to pick up and yet has so much to say. With a powerful instrumental backing the total outcome showcases an interesting Rock/Metal formation that with their flavour of difference and the easiness it is to listen to it could be a commercial success .
Line up:
Johanne James – drums & lead vocals
