Several of Germanys favorite musicians got together again for the sequel of a German reality TV show called “Sing Meinen Song”. In this TV show each musician is performing the song of another one, in their very own way. Now, this year’s season is over, and the best songs are collected and released on an album called “Sing Meinen Song – Das Tauschkonzert Vol. 2” which includes fifteen songs. There is also a deluxe edition available that includes yet another CD with just as many songs, songs that were also performed on the show.

This year there was a good mix of rock (Wirtz) and classic rock (Pur), pop (Yvonne Catterfeld) and almost Schlager – or at least German classics that are known world wide (Die Prinzen). Which makes the whole story even more interesting. Wouldn’t you love to see your favorite rock star perform a pop song that is always on the radio? Now here we go. Entirely rearranged, Yvonne Catterfeld’s soft love songs filled with pain and tears become rock songs performed by Wirtz and Christina Stürmer that are catchy and let you dance along, celebrating new opportunities. While Yvonne Catterfeld adds some jazz to her interpretations of songs. Especially Andreas Bourani and Xavier Naidoo somehow rearranged the song and sang them in a certain way that makes them own the songs and let them sound as if they were their own, not only because of the style in which they sing the songs. Their own and other’s. Simply brilliant.

This album and the concept of the TV show is quite amazing and outstanding, because it shows how truly talented each of these artists is and how creative they can be when rearranging songs of their colleagues. So if you have German TV and have Vox, make sure to tune in. For the next season at least. Each episode is also online on vox.de.
