Midnight Bullet is a Finnish formation making Melodic Heavy Metal. The band formed in 2009 and in 2012 they released their debut album. This year the band returns with a brand new album called: “Lose My Face”.
When reading Melodic Heavy Metal I did not exactly think of this type of music, but yes, it could fit in there. Perhaps more Thrash though. The band has a commercial sound and that is not meant in a way that it is radio-ready for the mainstream, it is meant that the guys have a sound that has international allure and could potential reach a wide audience.
Often they throw out some riffs with an ease that makes you think the band should be around for at least ten years longer than they say they are. The skills are there but also they implement it very well in the music, which is what makes it stand out so much.
Compositionwise the band is strong, they know a time and place for all, when to take a step back and when to bring some extra energy into it. They created a varied track list that won’t bore you anytime soon. And then it must be said: The vocals are often a surprising factor for being that raw edged extra that you did not see coming.
“Lose My Face” is a fresh view on Thrash I would say. The band builds bridges towards the more commercial side and profiles themselves very well in the process. A pleasant release.
