Releasedate: 2014; Label: Echozone

Andreas Gross is a multi-instrumentalist which has been releasing albums under this name for some years. In 2012 the album “Grounds of Ashes” came out and at the end of 2014 there was a new album that saw light. “Goodbye Mainstream” it is called and is out now.
The melancholic Gothic sound of Andreas Gross is back on a longplayer and this time the band seem to go deeper with it. It is somewhat mysterious and where their previous release was more in one line, the band creates a more interesting tracklist this time. Vocally it is only Swenja Schneider to bring us the words and she does it very charming. Putting the stress on it when needed but kept in back enough to make the whole composition benefit from its individual qualities within.
Then we are presented with bagpipes, a bit unusual but nevertheless brought in a convenient way.
The band also included two covers in this release, of which one comes in quite early in their tracklist. It is “Sleep Walk” out of a 1959 horror movie and it seems to suit the band quite well.
“Goodbye Mainstream” is a tasteful gothic release that is a pleasure to listen to. It does not come with something very wild but let you find the beauty in the calm parts.
