Young Rebel Set is an English Indie Rock band from the North East of England. They formed in Stockton-on-Tees in 2007. The band comprises Matthew Chipchase (vocals & acoustic), Luke Evans (drums), Mark Evans (electric guitar), Andrew Parmley (electric guitar) and Chris Parmley (bass).
Former members include David Coombe (harmonica) and Patrick Jordan (electric guitar). They have been classed as “life affirming graft rock” by the NME. They take inspiration from the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Johnny Cash, Dire Straits and The Pogues. But they make their own sound out of their inspiration which you can hear on their albums. This is their third full length studio album and is called “Crocodile”. Eleven songs that wander somewhere between swing, folk and country keep this album absolutely interesting. Various traditional styles mixed with indie rock is something you don’t get to hear too often these days. Catchy tunes and lyrics sung by a very pleasant voice. Melodic and smooth the music goes by, not without touching you though. Young Rebel Set know how to make music with an unique sound and songs that don’t only touch your skin. “Crocodile” is spreading calmness and good vibes, relaxing your stressful day. A beautiful album where tradition meets the modern world. Go get it and swing along to “Crocodile”.
