Astral Doors is a band from Sweden. They formed in 2002 to make some Heavy Metal and have made themselves noticed right away. With now seven full lengths on their name the band has created quite discography. The last release called “Notes From The Shadows” came out recently.
What to expect from these Swedish gentlemen is perhaps not a really unique sound and a whole own style, but more like a blend of all what has scored in the past. Rainbow, Dio but not forgetting a Jorn Lande influence here and there. Even though the sound quite recognizable and brings you not really something new, a release like “Notes From The Shadows” proves to be a worthy extension of your collection anyway. The band scores points on the quality they come with. Catchy, well thought refrains brought by mr. Nils Patrik Johansson, who is known of several other bands as well, are simply a joy to listen to. Accompanied with some nice riffs it makes the album simply one that listens easily and will bring you many hours of listening pleasure.
Simply said: “Notes From The Shadows” is not an album that brings something new but is one that you will embrace for its quality as there are plenty bands out there who don’t make it till their level.
