Dragonforce basically started in 1999. First under a different name, but within two year they became Dragonforce. With international attendance the band has a homebase in London and while they have about 15 years on the clock in 2014 the band is ready for the release of album number six. “Maximum Overload” is out now.
It is the second album with vocalist Marc Hudson and that is something that gives the band a stable ground. People know what to expect from him and the band had the opportunity to create a strong new album. What you expect from Dragonforce is speed and the band will not let you down on that front, but it becomes clear that it is not the only thing they want to highlight. A touch of a heavier side comes in, but overall it remains a typical Dragonforce album. Songs like “Tomorrow’s King” have everything you would think there is for a song like theirs and perhaps that confidential will speak to the long-time fans. When the band breaks out of the template for example “Three Hammers” you will come to a part that brings a little more surprise in it. In “Defenders” the band again found a compromise between a different style and so come that album number six of this band still has some surprises to bring.
“Maximum Overload” may have those stereotypical Dragonforce songs on them, it is good to see the band did not hold back on experimenting a bit and give you a little different here and there.
