By: Sabine van Gameren
Voyager are a progressive metal band from Australia. Formed in 1999 by Daniel Estrin, Mark Baker and Adam the band saw a few line-up changes before the album “Element V” got released in 2004. Some line-up changes and 10 years later the band is ready for the release of album number five, simply called: “V”.
Progressive, Melodic, Metal, Pop even. All to be found in a release from these Australians which have chosen a catchy sound to be theirs. A song like “Breaking Down”, early in the tracklist showcases the Progressive side of the band very well and makes it straight, that it isn’t made for the commerce alone. It’s song structure leaves you with plenty of depth to get into and this is not a song that stands alone in that. The guys have brought a well balanced mix of styles and will make sure that you don’t fade away with your attention. The band brings in guest vocalist Zemyna Kuliukas which gives the whole a softer and surprising touch. After that the band brings back their own confidential sound back until the last track is played.
“V” is an album that showcases exactly what Voyager stands for. Exuberant, happy , wild and perfect for any summer road trip.
