Incura – Incura

Releasedate: 28-02-2014; Label: InsideOut Music
By: Sabine van Gameren

Incura describes themselves as Agressive Melodic Rock, other than ‘hard to label’. The band got their first release out in 2009 and anno 2014 it is their self titled debut album that gets released in Europe as before it was only in Canada.

If you have to choose between Aggressive Melodic Rock or ‘hard to label’ the latter one suits probably best. At the first song you get a bit emoscreamo idea, brought up by the first words and the way they are brought. That in combination with their panicking instrumentals the whole seems quite settled, but listening further the hard to label seems to take it over. And that statement is not really telling you it is so hyperunique, but rather that it sounds like the band was not really sure of their own direction just yet. Ah well, there is time to experiment for the guys, as individually the skills are coming out, but with keeping the frame so wide it tends to look like they were simply to insecure to make a decision of what suits them best. Perhaps that Screamo sound would not be such a bad direction for them to explore, make it a bit wilder and then it would stand like a rock.
