Death Metal formation Ofermod started baack in 1996. First being more Black Metal the guys have transformed their style towards Death. In 2008 the band came with their debut album and now, four years later the next one is ready for the world to discover. “Thaumiel” is out now.
Dark moods, sometimes stoner atmospheres combined with deep sounds , but with decent tempo, the guys have no hesitation when it comes to that. Yet, the band is not giving the full sound as the expectations have been. The brutality seems lacking here and there, a little more passion into it would bring it way more alive. Nevertheless the band experiments with the use of samples to see if they could keep it interesting, which does not always hot ground but in some parts it comes out quite well. It took four years for them to come with this release, the fans may have expected a bit more from them. The album has some good moments but overall it feels like this album was not ready to be released yet, as if they still needed to finish it. There have been better albums coming out recently, maybe this one is best to skip.
