Svyatogor is a band from Ukraine making Experimental Black Metal. The band is around since 1999 even though it took until 2005 before the debut album came out. This year the band releases their third full length album and it’s called: “Doctor Veritas”.
In this album you can hear a large variety of languages, the lyrics are in English, French, Ukrain and Russian. This brings you straight to the point that not everyone may be able to follow it all. Which means you are there to enjoy the instrumental part mainly. Not too much to complain about that. The basics of it are quite standard, nothing new under the sun, but here and there some surprises will rise. A saxophone comes in and that this instrument works well with Black Metal has been proven more than once before, but still gives this an interesting touch. The guys are playful with their tempo’s as well. It keeps it a little more exciting. “Doctor Veritas” is a groovy album that has more surprises than you might have thought at first. Don’t give your judgement too fast, but listen to it all some extra time is our advice, because there is more to find than you expect.
