Darkness By Oath is a formation from Basque origin. Started in 2002 to make Melodic Death Metal they are anno 2012 up for their third full length release. It’s called: “Near Death Experience” and it is out now.
This band created an album that makes a strong impression from the beginning. It is filled with strong riffs that have a grand dose of catchiness to carry on with. Even though the majority of it all sounds like something you have heard before, the guys have inserted a few of those moment that shows the edges of their own identity more through than you might have thought at first. Listen to it some more and you start to find these lines to come forward more. Nice to see that this band stepped away a little from the obvious, but remained with enough of the confidential sound to make this album work for fans of bands like At The Gates, Nightrage and such. Maybe a little bit of the band Before The Dawn can be found in here as well, added a little vehemence to that.
Darkness By Oath has brought an album that is simply good. It is to hope that these lines in there become more and more clear to create even more of that own identity, but “Near Death Experience” is one that survives this summer and sticks along some more!
