Underground Fly is an alternative rock band from Poland, which released their second album “Awakenings” in 2008
The band had a quite successful period behind them when they released their debut album. In their own country they played in the major venues and also made it over the border. Now with “Awakenings” Underground Fly comes in quite serene and peaceful with “Clumsy Jester”. A lot of melody and a bit of 80’s spirit is there to be found. “Liar” for example has that typical 80’s rock feeling. “Strange Sunrise”, the ninth song on the album, has an interesting start. You might think it is live recorded in a bar, but then it quickly changes to a more polished, produced sound.
As in general on this album there is a lot of catchiness with lyrics that can be translated on various ways. All songs seem to have something different but they somehow managed to keep it all together as well. It really is an album and not a collection of different songs.
The artwork of the album radiates the old school feeling that often pops up. It is mainly black and white and has a quite dark, mysterious image on front. For those who want to read up to the lyrics, they can be found in there as well.
