Diary Of Dreams – Ego:X

Releasedate: 26-08-2011; Label: Accession (Indigo)
By: Nina Mende

Diary of Dreams is a German Darkwave band. The lead singer and founding member Adrian Hates has produced most of the albums by himself or with minimal help from others. He rarely uses a full band, except when he is on tour. „Ego:X“ is the fourteenth album of Diary of Dreams.

Diary of Dreams is always an intellectual challenge. Their music captures emotions, stories, meanings behind the stories, a different world of its own in each track. Diary of Dreams albums always include a whole lot to explore. And this album is not any different. Short stories or intros for the songs, spoken, like telltales or fairy tales, the music is interrupted throughout the album. Each song is standing alone, standing strong. But the entire album is one big picture as well. German and English in the mix, sometimes even throughout one song, Adrian digs deep in your soul and your heart. A seed of darkness, almost evil. A burning soul, lighting you with a spark of fire. “Ego:X” is a master piece by a master mind. “Push Me” includes an angel on vocals: Amelie Brightman lights the sun in this dark album. This album is a must have not only for Gothic fans, but also for people who love ambitious music.
