The Commander in Chief – Paranoid

Releasedate: 20-08-2011
By: Sabine van Gameren

A rock chick with a guitar, born in Norway, comes with her debut single “Paranoid”.

Always nice to see a femme rocking in music that’s mainly dominated by men. The Commander in Chief plays a seven string guitar and makes rock/metal. As a debut single a cover of “Paranoid” got released. A bit of a pity, this choice, we only have one song to review this lady’s material and then we get a cover. Sure, “Paranoid” is good song that pretty much all metal fans will appreciate, but would this cover make such a big impression that it sets the name of The Commander in Chief on the map? Probably not. The cover is done pretty well musically, the instrumental part goes smoothly but on the vocal side it may have been a bit too polished and yet that big surprise stays out. It does give the impression this lady is up to quite something with the skills she have and gives, but we hope that we get to hear some of her own material as that would really stick in mind much more than this cover which is basically one of the many we ran into.
