Swedish hard rockers of Billion Dollar Babies have been formed in 2005. Although they had some success going on in their home country they now go international with their debut album “Die For Diamonds” via Pure Rock Records.
The album starts with the song “Boys Nights Out” of which they have made a video as well. This confronts you straight with a problem that reigns throughout the record. The lyrics seem to be a bit high school. Also some songs sound like you heard it before, maybe not the most creative work. The Swedes have got a couple of strong points that makes this album allowed to stay on the playlist. Catchy guitars and quite ok vocals will keep you listening, but it does not really have an own face yet. The last couple of songs on the album are the ones that come closest to that. It is the band’s debut and they are clearly on the road to something, but the band is still trying to find their own sound. That results also in sometimes a bit insecure vocals, where you may have expected some more strength. It sets the interest to see how this band develops but for now they can’t fight it up to the bigger names yet, nor bring that much of a surprise.
