Hitherside is an American/Belgian female fronted Melodic Metal band. The band founded in 2011 as a duo but in 2015 the band had a full line up. That year they also released a debut and anno 2019 the band returns with a second full length album. It is called “Blue Lotus” and is available now.
Hitherside draws from a wild diversity of influences, you can hear a lot of different sides of them in this album. Good, that keeps the whole interesting, but do they manage to make a unity out of it? We would say: partly. Most of the songs have some connection with eachother but sometimes it is a bit abrupt when going back and forth between the different parts. Most remarkable is the prog side of it when on the other side they go a bit more towards grunge.
The experimenting with it leads to some quality songs, The vocals of Jennifer are pleasant to listen to and lyrically they find inspiration in topics that many may be familiar with so it is easy to relate to it.
“Blue Lotus” shows a formation that loves to experiment and find a way to put everything they enjoy into an album. A band on the grow, but already worth to give it a try.
