High Inquisitor Woe is a Belgian formation that makes Doom Metal. The band released their album “The Taint” earlier this year.
“The Taint”
is an album that takes Doom back in time. Slowly, they are playing on your
emotional side, building up and tearing down into their songs. The sinister way of composing is a little bit
of a tease sometimes, you wait for it and then right when you expect that
climax you are put back to place and asked to wait a little more. Interesting
soundscapes they create with it.
Luckily they have a good feeling of when they need to change pace and bring it
up a bit more, the songs could be quite long and while listening it has the
potential of a listener walking away from it but they know their boundaries
well and manage to keep the listener with them.
For example, the track “Crowns of
Aquilonia” is one of those who is well-thought, it gives the impression
the guys have taken their time to think this over and that resulted in a track
that stands out.
Altogether High Inquisitor Woe made an album with international allure. The band shows to be ready for the larger stages and find a larger audience.
