My Glorious formed in January 2008 in Vienna/Austria. The setup resulted out of a break-up of a former band called “Fresh” who had been playing for over seven years and had toured UK, Germany, Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovakia and Austria and had the privilege of playing large events as well as many club gigs. After two of the five members left the band, one of them being the lead singer, the remaining three decided to take up the challenge of a rock trio. Hence there are six hands playing guitar, bass and drums, one steady foot stomping the beat and a distinctive voice that gives the band a memorable sound.
My Glorious definitely has a very memorable sound, very independent and unique. Somehow you could describe it as Grunge meets Electro meets Rock, but make up your own mind about that. The vocals are sung in a relaxed way, at least they sound very relaxed and chilled out, there is no hectic and no stress, no pressure, nothing in it. Like a free spirit it drifts along to the tunes of the band. The balance between slow and faster songs is kept very well, not all slow songs are coming during the end of the album but are mixed in between the faster and danceable songs. Compared to an average song length some of My Glorious’ songs on this album are very long. But no song on “Home Is Where The Heart Breaks” is extremely short. On the album cover you see a hand holding a rock heart, another rock heart laying in a “medical bowl” – the kind of bowls you see in hospitals…. In the booklet there is pictures of each band member in the background and the lyrics to each piece are printed on top of them. The artwork is mostly held in grey. Back to the sound of this album there is one last thing to say: Each song is very diversified in itself. Therefore this album never gets boring. My Glorious: I hope we will hear a lot more about this band!
