Persefone is a band coming from Andorra. This Melodic Death Metal band formed in 2001 and released their third full length album “Shin-Ken”.
Persefone, coming from that small country in Europe found inspiration for their music outside their own culture, being it the Japanese war stories that attract them. And it is not a short adventure, where the band is taking you. 15 songs on the album, a playtime for over an hour to please you. The band makes melodic death metal but still found a way to keep the drama limited. Some instrumental songs to keep the stress away from the story, some trenchant others rather calm. Even though the actual music yearns for its characteristics, it all perfectly performed. Elaborated guitarriffs, pounding drums, keyboards that are not too dominant but yet quite present. The band knows how to bring a good mix of music. Vocalwise the band has a good one at Marc Martins, who’s growling pretty low-pitched and easily changes that for some screams. Sometimes it might sound a bit too much experimented with the vocal styles, but the adventurous side of them is to praise even though not all risks turn out to be a success.
The band made a decent album. “Shin- Ken” is one that might be up for major selling rate, it has the potential.
