Zakk Wylde – Book of Shadows II

When I first heard about Zakk Wylde‘s new solo album “Book of Shadows II”, I got so excited because in all of his works with/without Black Label Society, his first acoustic solo album Book of Shadows I (1996) has been my favourite for a really long time. While it is really hard for me to decide which songs are the ones I like the most in first solo album, now he is back with the second one!

On 8th April 2016, Zakk Wylde will release his second solo album “Book of Shadows II” via Spinefarm records. The album offers an hour joy to it’s listeners with 14 songs. Somehow, I always prefer Wylde’s solo acoustic albums to Black Label Society album because in my opinion, with acoustic albums, we are able to hear Wylde’s velvet voice more clearly with combination of a lot of emotions in it. This acoustic Southern Rock album of course has the elements of Wylde’s wild and metalhead part, but all of these go along so well that for example electrifying guitar solos are very tasteful with Zakk’s voice and with rest of the instruments. However, as a big fan of the first Book of Shadows album, I have to say that when these two albums are compared, Book of Shadows II needs more time to get used to it.

Still, whatever he creates, he knows how to make it the best with his velvet voice. In this album, it was a little easier for me to choose my favourite songs. “Lost Prayer” and “Forgotten Memory” have their special place in my heart already!

His acoustic songs have always been my road trip songs. And it’s great to add new ones to my list! Summer is coming, get a cold drink and enjoy with this calm but also very energetic album!
