Irradiance is a female fronted band. From Symphonic to Prog to orchestral music, there is much to be found into their sound. The French formation formed in 2014 and have their album “Dissidence” out at the end of 2015.
The band creates an interesting mix when they throw in all these genres, a rather wild combination of tempo’s and the orchestral parts are creating a certain hysteria that gives “Dissidence” something that is not often heard. The violin is giving the drama some extra highlight while the guitars are keeping some vehemence in it. The solos are definitely worth to listen to with some extra attention, the band certainly has skills on board.
The trap of the band lays in the chaos they create, while it is as much of a strength as well. Here and there you may wonder whether they are still in balance, or does the chaos take over their control? It is a fine line that forms that border and something for them to keep an eye on.
The band has story in their album that comes across regardless the wild presentation of it. The complexity that is in the album does not hurt that at all, it strengthen it even, making the whole just a bit more remarkable. “Dissidence” is just not album that you hear every day. This makes it interesting to listen to and will, due to the outstanding performance of vocalist Audrey, find a large deal of their upcoming fans in the area of Female fronted metal. Yet, one must not put them there only, it hits ground for all fans of complex structures and melodramatic sounds.
