Folk Rock formation Galliard Syndrome has its base in Greece where they formed in 1997. Other than a bunch of demo’s are not mentioned at their pages so we assume that “Velvet Rings” is their debut full length.
One of the demo’s carries the same name as this full length album, but it is already released in 2005. No wonder when listening to the album you feel a bit like it is out of date. The band should be 10 year further in development, but the songs are not giving the strength that most bands that has been around for about 19 years have. The vocals are not always steady and the rest of the band does not go over it.
The initial idea behind these songs does not seem to be the problem, but with what they are giving now they are not getting the maximum out of their sound. Work on the skills, get it more tight. Whether this band is the main project of the members or are they just doing it as a project for fun is not to tell. It took them long to come with this release and we hoped to get something stronger than we have now. “Velvet Rings” is just not what we expected from it.
