As soon as autumn arises the amount of drone, ambient, creepy material in our inbox is getting higher. We see darkness coming our way and this time it is the Finnish Halo Manash that releases an album. It is called “Haudattujen Valvoja” and it is out now.

They are not into overwhelming you with a high tempo, but take a doom-ish approach. It is dark, slow and evil. Slow sounds leading you to a world that you could describe as hell, the torturing of building a tension, walking around not knowing what is around you, Halo Manash is smart with their atmospherical building. Do you compare it to the works of acts from Mories, the Dutch master that has so many great projects in this genre you may found it a bit minimalistic perhaps. Could this been filled up more? Oh yes, there could be so much more to haunt you.
Where for example the latest Gnaw Their Tongues never allow you to let your guard down, you become perhaps a bit too comfortable in this release. It is ok to drift away from this dreamworld as you won’t be dragged back. So needs more dedication to stick with it, where other acts are keeping you at the edge of your chair fearing each sound next, making you aware of every little noise and keep you to have a feeling about this.

Overall it is a good release, but maybe a bit less daring. Halo Manash could have challenged us more than they did now.
