The German formation Suzen’s Garden makes pop/rock. They just released the first part of the double album “Stronger!”.
At first I had the impression I was listening to some girl group (looking at the bandpicture, it’s not… but of course you never know). Spice Girls clone. With appreciation of Rap. Or maybe better described as ‘spoken word’. But then we get some more pop-ish song again. Does that Suzen even know what she wants? We fear the worst as their own label says they musically matured. Poor people that have been tortured with what came before this! It is not often that we get a release and all we want to do is throw everything out of the window in frustration. To want to take that disc with the intention to put in the fire, to break it in thousand pieces and make it disappear. Unfortunately we are forced to listen it completely. The whining vocals, the simplistic instrumental background, the pretentious way of writing. A bad copy of what others done a thousand times better. Not anything that points towards an own identity. We did not expect this to be found at a label like Sonic Revolution which has plenty of good releases.
No… we get the most extreme albums on our desk. The squeakiest grindcore that is around. The blackest metal you can get. The most comprehensive jazz solo albums, but no… it is Suzen’s Garden that manages to give us severe headache. WHAT THE FUCK!
Tracklist: 01. Stronger 02. Dark Silence 03. Get onto the bus 04. Change of times 05. Sometimes 06. Moving lines 07. One more fucking time 08. Never leave your home 09. Lovesong |
