Tearless – Step Into Darkness

Tearless is Gothic formation from Croatia. The band formed in 2003 and released only a few demo’s so far. Anno 2015 they bring some change into that and come with a full length debut called “Step Into Darkness”.

At first the band reminded me a bit to the Finnish band Soulgrind in the way they have their songs composed and especially starting track “Deathwish” has a certain remembrance to that. The difference is that the male vocals have a more dominant place into the sound of Tearless. A choice that gives them some extra vehemence and power. It may sometimes be familiar as it is not really an unique experience to listen to this album, but the band has a good quality of skills on their hands. Playing around with how they bring out their guitar for some melodic moments and then switching back to a part where they give some more strength is entertaining enough. One of the most catchy and standing out tracks is “Fallen We Are” which simply sticks in mind most. Would be a good choice for a single or promotional material.

Altogether “Step Into Darkness” is a fine release. The band knows what they want, but could finetune a bit on their identity just a little more.
