Dope Stars Inc. is an alternative and industrial rock band formed in Rome, Italy in late 2002, though the band was not officially formed until 2003. The band was founded by Victor Love, Darin Yevonde, Grace Khold and Brian Wolfram. They have four albums and three EPs released, with the latest being released on May 30, 2011. The band has signed with multiple labels since their inception, with Trisol Music Group being their first. Currently, their albums are distributed by Trisol in Europe, Subsound in Italy, Metropolis Records in North America, and other small labels including Deathwatch Asia in Japan and other countries.

Now they have a new album in their pipeline which will go by the name of “TeraPunk”. But before this is out and about, Dope Stars Inc hit Germany to play three shows – Berlin, Frankfurt and Munich – and present some of the new stuff live. Now, if you have ever listened to Dope Stars Inc before you might have noticed one thing: Their music has strongly evolved. From being grunted vocals along with heavy industrial beats to danceable rock music one can not only sing along to, but also sway or just sit tight and listen. I am not saying the old stuff is bad. It is totally catchy and fun. But a great change has happened from the beginning to now. And it continues steadily. So on “TeraPunk”.

Dope Stars Inc playing in Das Bett tonight felt more like a private party. Round about thirty people had come out. It was a pity but we all made the best out of it. So did the four Italians. Without a keyboarder along they had this part coming from tape but made up for it by pouring their hearts and passionate music onto us. Dim light and fog created the perfect atmosphere for the music. Dope Stars Inc played all their hits, of course. But they also played quite some brand new songs. And they stuck. Instantly. This show gave you a sneak peak of what “TeraPunk” would be like. And let me tell you this much: It will be great.

For about ninety minutes Dope Stars Inc played music and rocked out on stage, including a five minute drum solo and an encore of three songs. It was definitely worth coming out and now I am absolutely excited about “TeraPunk”.
